Vetri is a Computational Chemist by training and he
graduated from IITM, Chennai in 1984. After a
post-doctoral stint in UK, he was a Scientist in
National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune for a decade in
the Catalysis Division. Transitioning from Academia to
Industrial R&D, he took the role of Molecular Modelling
Researcher in the Chemistry & Catalysis Division of GE
Technology Centre, Bangalore in 2000. His computational
research work in Catalysis, Nanotechnology, Sensors,
Electronic devices are well recognized. In 2007, he
moved to Shell Technology Centre, Bangalore as one of
the senior technical Leadership Team and superannuated
in 2018. His flagship contribution as a Computational
Material Scientist was leading a computational team that
was part of starting-up & taking the largest
Fischer-Tropsch catalytic plant in the world to its
name-plate capacity (140,000 Barrels per day). Vetri’s
honors include 1997 Young Scientist Award of Catalysis
Society of India, project leadership in Indo-foreign
(foreign = UK, French, Japan) projects, recognitions
through the award of GE & Shell Corporate Share options,
Emeritus Professorship at PPISR, Bangalore and ~125
scientific journal publications & ~10 patents. He
initiated and established the Molecular Modelling
Laboratory in NCL, Pune; GE Technology Centre, Bangalore
as well as Shell Technology Centre, Bangalore.
